Holey Pants...Not so Holy?

THE MOM: Not Holy

1) All high school boys have hormones on crack.

2) The sight of ANY bare skin on a girl only makes the aforementioned crack addiction worse.

3) One would expect to see bare legs attached to shorts. One does NOT expect to see bare skin through scissor-made holes on the thighs of a pair of jeans. It's much too tantalizing for those previously mentioned in Number 1.

My experience: A mother's job is to protect her daughter. To protect her from being ogled in the lunch line five days a week. Since school uniforms weren't an option (trust me, I tried!), the next best thing was to insist on leggings being worn underneath holey jeans. End of discussion.

I hid my daughter’s holey jeans. They were just too much.

I found them washed and neatly folded at the back of a drawer in my sewing desk, three years later. Mission accomplished. She had totally forgotten about them.

AND I: Holy

1) Shorts are shorter. It's a reality. There are shorts out there that make swimsuits look like overalls.

2) It's not immodest. Unless you start buying jeans with holes in the rear, it is not immodest for people to see your thigh.

3) Shorts are shorter. It needed to be stated again.

My experience: I once had jeans with holes in them. Nothing to write Grandma about or situate myself on a corner. There was one hole three inches above the knee, and two slits on the other leg. Whenever I tried sneaking out the door with them on, back up to my room I would go. If I wanted to wear the holey jeans, I would need to pair them with leggings. I used to take the leggings off when I got to school. One day Mom found out.

I have no idea where those pants are now.
